TourCT (Tourism Communication and Translation) is an international research network that brings together researchers and practitioners from diverse fields with a shared interest in the language of tourism. Our mission is to advance knowledge through research, collaborative activities, and engagement with the tourism industry.
The network was established in 2024 by researchers from the Università di Pisa (Italy), Università del Salento (Italy), Universidad de Córdoba (Spain), and the University of Birmingham (UK) with the firm intention of expanding the scope for research, collaboration and engagement in this field.
Our Aims
1. Foster Interdisciplinary Collaboration
We facilitate academic exchange and networking among researchers from linguistics, translation, tourism studies, marketing, communication studies, and other disciplines that focus on tourism as a study context to explore how language, interaction and discourse function as a mediating force in tourism, but also between researchers and tourism practitioners.
2. Shape Practice
We contribute to destination and tourism promotion by providing evidence-based recommendations and engaging with industry stakeholders to inform practice and benefit destinations.
3. Promote Awareness and Training
We promote the understanding of the critical role of language and translation in tourism and support training for current and future industry professionals.
TourCT is open to anyone interested in the language of tourism. If you would like to get involved, please email us with your name, a couple of sentences about yourself and your interest in tourism communication.
